Lawrence
Boakye
Research & Development Specialist
Research & Development Specialist
Lawrence is a young development professional with a passion for development who enjoys challenging and stimulating roles. He has an extensive exposure and experience across the spectrum of international development cooperation in Ghana, working at the front-lines using the "project concept" and volunteerism to tackle fundamental socioeconomic development problems. He also has a passion for learning inside and outside the classroom and thus always welcomes opportunities to widen his skills and knowledge base.
Lawrence loves to see plans come to fruition. He knows how to bring people together and find effective, streamlined ways of working together and sharing information. Operations, management and leadership vocabularies are second nature to him. Inspired by the relevance and impact of development assistance projects to grassroots development, Lawrence also goes above and beyond his traditional practice to share knowledge to help create a distinguished high-profile outlet for policy- and practice-relevant reflection by the academic and practitioner alike, thereby contributing to the exchange of ideas between science and contemporary international development praxis to help, especially the third world, to adopt functional managerial approaches to implement and deliver development assistance projects better.
With a deeply ingrained mission to make a difference in other lives, Lawrence has chosen to live by choice, not by chance; to make changes, not excuses; to be motivated, not manipulated; and to excel, not compete. Consequently, he has an unselfish commitment to working for the common good. And he exemplifies the values of passion, service, insight, respect, resilience, impact, and scholarship, which he strives to apply in a broad range of fields in international development cooperation to demonstrate true leadership through action. Outside work, he enjoys travelling, sightseeing, reading, movies, tennis and football.
